Kent’s Quarterly Economic Survey Q3 2024

4th October 2024

As we conclude the third quarter of 2024, the Quarterly Economic Survey (QES), the UK’s most established business sentiment survey, indicates that this quarter has been challenging for businesses, despite some positive developments.

Labour costs and anticipated increases are affecting businesses, impacting growth and skills development. Taxation has emerged as the primary inflationary pressure, and our discussions with members highlight that uncertainty around taxation and related policy changes is affecting daily business decisions and hindering growth.

Locally in Kent & Medway, and nationally in collaboration with the British Chamber of Commerce, we ensure that your views reach the appropriate and highest levels of government, keeping business interests at the forefront of policy discussions.

We are at a critical juncture for business and the economy, with the upcoming budget and consultations on key policies such as Industrial Strategies so please make sure your voice is heard by engaging with us through the QES and directly.
