Countrystyle Helps Schools Get Litter-Ate And Improve Recycling
A Kent-based waste management company is playing a key role in educating the next generation in the benefits of recycling.
As part of its ongoing work with the community, family-owned Countrystyle Recycling is visiting primary schools that use its service to host recycling workshops and assemblies.
The latest visit took place at Lunsford Primary School in Aylesford with year 4 and 5 pupils and teachers benefiting from a recycling workshop involving videos and quizzes on Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Countrystyle’s Jolene Simionato delivered the workshop and then presented the pupils with a certificate to acknowledge their commitment to recycling. It was followed by a litter pick with a group of pupils who have volunteered to be their class ‘eco champions’.
Mr Anscombe, Head Teacher of Lunsford Primary School, said: “Our pupils really enjoyed meeting Jolene and learning more about recycling. It was good to see their enthusiasm for the litter pick and we are grateful to Countrystyle for their support.”
The school also received a resource pack for teachers containing art and craft activities, a book for the library and reward stickers. The sessions also encourage the pupils to consider how items can be recycled and the wider environmental issues.
Jolene Simionato, Countrystyle’s Business Development Manager (Education Specialist), added: “Helping the young people of Aylesford understand how, by reducing what we use, reusing more and recycling more, they can all improve their local environment, is a vital part of how the Countrystyle team is making a difference every day.”
The visit was part of Countrystyle’s work with schools across Kent and Medway.
