Patrons of the Chamber, MidKent College enhance their students’ preparations for the world of work by supporting them to showcase their skills. Design student Megan MacKenzie designed the logo for the Medway Business & Skills Showcase which takes place on April 10 after winning a competition.

Students at MidKent College were challenged to create the logo for the free event which is aimed at all businesses in Medway, whether they are just starting out or already well-established.

Students were mentored by Clockwork Moggy, a Rochester-based marketing agency, to help create their entries. Megan Mackenzie’s design was judged to be the winning design, and she was presented with a certificate by Cllr Lauren Edwards, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration and Inward Investment.

On receiving her award, Megan said: “It has been such an enjoyable project to get stuck into and be involved in the whole process. To have my logo chosen to be the face of this new event is fantastic for me, and I’ve learnt so much from this experience. Now I can’t wait to see it displayed on all of the promotional materials, and at the event itself.”

Carrie Stay of Clockwork Moggy, and one of the judges, said: “Megan shows great promise as a design student, showcasing this not only in her final logo design but also through commendable qualities displayed in her innovative ideas and dedication to the design process.

“Approaching the project with many creative concepts, she demonstrated a good understanding of the requirements, the intended audience, and the narrative the design aimed to communicate. Megan’s skill in crafting an impactful logo for the event truly stands out with both great design and understanding of the principles that contribute to effectiveness in design.”

Cllr Edwards commented: “The logo looks fantastic, and I would like to congratulate Megan for her winning design. It is really important that we give young local people the opportunity to take part in events like this and showcase their talent. There are so many talented students studying across Medway, and I want to thank all of the students at MidKent College who took part in this competition.”
