We are KSS and we fight every day to save lives. We are a world-leading charity at the forefront of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) on both a national and international platform. We are an independent charity. It costs £18.8M a year or £51K per day to operate our world leading, life-saving service with 87% of our total income raised through the incredible generosity of our supporters.
We serve a population of 4.8M plus a transient population of 90M people. Over the past three decades we have been tasked to over 40,000 incidents, saving lives and improving patient outcomes from the skies above Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Team KSS is a highly skilled, diverse multi-disciplinary team of doctors, paramedics, dispatchers, fundraisers, marketers and support staff.

That’s why we have dedicated the last 33 years to saving lives and providing cutting-edge, pre-hospital critical care. We are a vital part of your community, your lives and your safety. We’re driven by our purpose of saving lives and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients. Last year alone, we were called to respond to over 3,200 incidents with 1342 of those in our very own Kent.
Time is critical
Our dispatchers task our crews of pilots, doctors and paramedics, along with our life-saving equipment, to our patients 24/7, 365 days a year. Our highly skilled multi-disciplinary team operate at the very forefront of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS). We perform life-saving emergency chest and heart surgical procedures, deliver emergency anaesthesia and administer blood transfusions to patients suffering from life-threatening blood loss. We can do all of this at the side of a road, on a beach, in a park – wherever and whenever you need us. We’re continuously innovating and utilising technology to develop and further improve the treatment and care we can deliver.

We’re redefining what it is to be an Air Ambulance charity. We believe in a future where there is an end to preventable loss of life from medical emergency. Where families stay together, and lives aren’t destroyed. But to do this we need to think differently; we need to collaborate with like-minded organisations to stop medical emergencies from happening. When those emergencies do occur, we need to provide ongoing support and aftercare, giving our patients and families their best chance of a better future.
